All planning applications relating to our parish must satisfy the strategic policies stipulated in the East Riding Local Plan for 2020 to 2039, which was adopted in April 2025. It allows development in Harpham within the boundary shown below, but disfavours new build in Lowthorpe and Ruston Parva as they are considered to be open countryside and unsustainable.
